You just can't up, and delete them! you need a program that cleans it out.......

Boot to a dos level...drill down to the folder and delete it..>CAREFUL you can delete alot of things that way.....

Why do you want to delete it??? It will only come back....

if its XP just share folders...switch users and delete the other persons

wow

i dont know if i would be whining about some tiny little .dat files, i searched my entire machine and found 55 of them, and they are almost all tiny. the only big ones i found were still only 3 megs, and that was only two of them. as far as deleting them, dont bother. they dont make much of an effect anyhow.

.dat

I have deleted these files by renaming the .dat part then deleting them. however this didnt work on a dat file in explorer, because it was "in use".

well

if you restart your machine, and then press f8 the instant the logo pops up, and choose command prompt only, then dos will allow you to delete even those bugers that are "in use"

but the crappy thing about dos is it isnt as user friendly, so you sort of have to know where to go to kill them.
