Incorrect Password On Wakeup From Sleep

5103 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  hewhohuntselves
Hi,

Sometimes, but not always, when I put my Vista machine to sleep and wake it up Vista reports that my password is incorrect. I have checked to see whether numlock/caps is engaged and neither is. No matter how many times I try to enter the password it comes up as incorrect. The only way to get into Windows is to log off - losing all my work - and to log in again.

Can anyone offer advice on how I can fix this?

Thanks in advance!

That's what I've ended up doing.

What I've discovered however is that on wake up the 'Fn' key on my Acer laptop seems to be activated (even though I only press and release it to wake up). One of the letters in my password is 'i' and when I press this letter to enter it in the password dialog box nothing appears. This is consistent with the 'Fn' key being pressed. When I wake my computer up from sleep without pressing 'Fn' and 'F4' the password problem disappears!

It's very strange, but that's for your suggestion.
