in winxp, how to un-set file sharing?

ok, file sharing is enabled on this machine, i need it disabled.

it's xp

please?

Uncheck "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" in the Local Area Connection properties window.
ok, like in windows 98, i just figured that out too.

problem is, we open the network connections and we get this.
still has internet though, even with no listed connection.

on my own machine i get this, so i know what i should be seeing, but it's not there, what can i do now?

i guess that makes sense, sorta like uninstalling and reinstalling a bad install of a program....

ok, we got this from the add new connection wizard.
i beleive it is saying it's not making any changes, since the settings didn't change.
still nothing listed in the connections panel though.

Check to see if your network card is listed in the device manager, and make sure there are no warning symbols. You may want to uninstall your network card from the device manager, and the TCP/IP protocol from the "Local Area Connection" dialog window. Reboot once you do that and let Windows attempt to reinstall the card along with the local area connection. Make sure you have the drivers for your NIC just in case.
