 I have a Pc that is running 09/26/200-via-kt133-<a7v>
bios it has a AMD duron 600mhz processor in it. When I attempt to boot the system it goes straight into to setup and gives me an error message that says "Your system hung for improper CPU external speed seting. Your system is now working in Safe mode(Bus: 100mhz, Dram100mhz, PCI 33mhz.)
To optimize make sure speed of CPU conforms to cpu specs." How? If I exit out of setup it continues to boot and then hangs and says IDE bus master enabled. I attempt to reload windows 98 second edition and if it ever gets back to the install screen it then hangs during the hard ware detection phase. Any ideas????

Thanks for the response the jumpers are set as follows the ones at the top of the image are all set to off in this system there are 10 total on this board 6 + 4. The vid jumpers are all set to the 1 & 2 position. The bottom jumper (jen) in the drawing is between the 2nd and 3rd pin.

Move JEN jumper to 1&2

After you change the above switches go into the bios and change the following.

Under Advanced
Set the CPU Clock Multiplier to 6.0X

Set the Frequency to 100

Set the dram to whatever you have in there for memory.......100/133

CPU speed

WOW! it worked it has booted about ten times now with no problems used the settings on the second image for the 6 dip switches. And the other settings for the rest. Now that I am in the system it shows d drive as a ms-ramdrive and it should be a cd-rom. Any ideas on this. Thanks for the help.
