I want MS Live Search to go away permanently! I go to Tools>Internet Options>Search>Settings and disable Live Search and/or delete it, and delete it from the Home Page Tabs list, but it reappears as a tab next time I reboot.

I also have MSN Homepage, MSN Entertainment, MSN News, etc. in my Favorites now, also added by IE8. If I delete them, they also reappear after reboot.

How can I PERMANENTLY DISABLE/DELETE these irritations so they do not reappear, or do I go back to IE7 or Firefox?

I personally would use Firefox, as i think it is a much better browser.

Are you talking about the search box on the top right corner?

I know how to disable live search.

I am asking you where about you want to disable it, is it on your homepage? in the search bar??

Sorry ... MSN is my homepage, so every time I launch IE, MSN opens "PLUS" a tab for Live Search, "PLUS" all of the MSN pages in my Favorites folder. I want to permamnently disable both the unwanted Live Search tab and the unwanted MSN entries in my Favorites folder.

An I agree, Firefox is leaner and faster, but multiple people use the system and are pretty hardwired into IE.

PS - Now using IE8 RC1

I have found that IE8 RC1 relieves me of the incessant issue of not being able to load pages on common websites that work fine with IE7 or Firefox. However, I still have the original problems posted above in this thread.
