I noticed recently that whenever I open an html document on my hard drive with internet explorer, it opens the document twice. I suspect that somehow I have a script running which causes a pop up window that opens when the first explorer window opens. I may have received this from a website in which there were several pop up windows.

How do I get eliminate this second opening of my documents?

I'd start by disabling Java Scripts and see if this stops the behavior. If so, you need to find the script on your machine.

I saw that happen one time and someone had set the thing to open on single click in folder options. She was still double clicking everything, and usually just minimized the second window. She had at least 30 windows open in her taskbar by the time I was consulted!!!
