IDE3 Tags

I wasn't sure where to put this. I installed creative mediasource something or other and added some 2600 songs into the music library. then i go into the music folder and look at the songs only to find that 700 of those songs no long have any IDE3 tags on them. is there a way to recover these tags? half of the music is irreplaceable (meaning i misplaced or don't have cds for) and i don't know the artists or ablum names anymore.

i tried a system restore but that didn't help. i need help please!
