I don't know the difference between IDE & SATA Hard Drives and want to purchase a 2nd HDD for my PC. I don't want to end up getting the wrong one so was just wondering what the difference was between the two, thanks.
The difference is both in the size cable for data and power, and in interface speeds. IF your mobo supports SATA drives then they would be the preferable choice. There are two types of SATA drives out, SATA 1.5 and SATA 3.0, the real world difference between the two at the momonet is negligable, but there are compatability isues to take in consideration. Without knowing what mobo you have it isimpossible to to guess what your mobo supports. Check your mobo's manual for info on what type of drives it will support, how to configure, and what bios changes will be needed to do so.
