Computer: AT factor.66 mHZ CPU.The IDE controllers(2 only) are not located on the Mobo, but on an axptension card. There are 1 controller for the HD,and 1 for the Floppy.I want to install a CD-Rom.So I connected it as slave to the HD.But my BIOS did not detect it.There is a mention of Drive D,but they have it as a fixed disk with columns to enter variables such as cylinders, heads, sectors, zones, mode. Also they mention A & B drive, but they are for floppy disk. What are my options?

In the bios setting depending on what type and version it is where it now says drive D and asks for the information try to find an option to auto detect, also check your hard drive jumpers sometimes a drive will work just fine all by itself on the ide cable without the jumper setttings being correct but when you add a slave it gets all picky. If you cant find an auto detect in the bios or it dosnt help, make sure that the hard drive is set to master, not nothing (ie no jumpers at all), and not CS(Cable Select).

Let me know how it turns out. :)
