Hello,

I'm trying to fix my mom's friend's PC and after several tests my PC Repair teacher took we found out that the Hard-drive and motherboard got fried.

He tells me that an IDE controller would do the job since I'm looking for the cheapest way to fixing it. I'm looking at tigerdirect.com and neweggs.com prices and IDE controllers and cant really decide which one is the best/compatible with the PC.

I'll also be buying a new hard drive, but my main concern is the IDE Controller and if it will work out ok.

The PC specs are something like XP, Dell, 128 RAM, 40 gig HD, uhh if theres anything I'm missing out let me know. Hope I didnt forget any other information.

Thanks a bunch fellas. ^^
