iBook blank screen

I have an iBook that I recently got from a friend, it doesn't have a hard drive in it as I recently found out, if I play with it enough when I turn it on and keep hitting the eject button for the cd drive sometimes the screen will come on, but that is about it, is there any way to fix this? I have a flash drive I can boot from if I get it to work.
