I replaced the hard drive on my IBM NetVista 2292 (Type 2292 21U) running Windows XP Pro SP3, but I cannot find the driver for the wireless LAN card. I read the article "how to find your driver" but ran into a dead end.

In Windows: "My Computer" ==> "Properties" ==> [System Properties] ==> "Hardware" ==> "Device Manager" ==> [Other Devices] ==> [Network Controller] ==> "Properties" ==> ["Network Controller Properties"] ==> "Details"
provides the following device details for this device.

Device Instance ID:
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4318&SUBSYS_00421737&REV_02\4&122329E2&0&70F0

Hardware IDs:
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4318&SUBSYS_00421737&REV_02
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4318&SUBSYS_00421737
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4318&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4318&CC_0280

Compatible IDs:
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4318&REV_02
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4318
PCI\VEN_14E4&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_14E4&CC_0280
PCI\VEN_14E4
PCI\CC_028000
PCI\CC_0280

Using the PCI Database: "http://www.pcidatabase.com/" I found:
Chip Number: BCM4318
Chip Description: Broadcom 802.11b/g
Notes: Download Broadcom Wireless WinXP,Vista,Win7 Driver, Ver.5.100.9.142 | Wireless Driver & Software

The the Broadcom website does not provide support for this card and tells users to contact the vendor, in this case, IBM.

Contacting IBM didn't help either.

Your advice about how to download the driver for this wireless NIC would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for responding to my request.

I downloaded the driver file using the shortcut you provided and executed the setup file that was included and the installation file provided. However, when I attempted to update the driver for the wireless card, the system responded with an error message saying that the hardware was not installed because the wizard could not find the necessary software.
