I've just done my very first laptop:smooch:

You have to go to the bios and change the the start up sequence to CD. This how I did mine even though it took me a while:sigh: Then go to IBM website and start downloading software drivers for your laptop.

Good luck...

Tp600x Update

I have 12 IBM laptops the 600x is my fav. you have a 500 or
650MHZ CPU good but you need 300-400MB of RAM menory,
ant least 15GIG harddrive and an operating sys(XPsp2).

installing the OS will format theHDD. OS will put all temp drivers
you need to get going. Then just go to ibm and auto scan and
auto load drivers for 600x and XP, and for best operation also load
thinkpad config.

from ebay all parts and XPsp2 cost about $160.

luck,wayne

TP600x

HI,
I never had to hunt for drivers
Installing XP had most. www.ibm.com had updated drivers, works
a little better. Only extras needed was pcmcia cards for USB 2.0
and wireless internet modem WLAM .(built in dial-up was ok a few years ago but
to much stuff needs 200k or faster(not 2.5-4.5k)DL speeds.

luck
