We offer support for legitimately purchased software. We DON'T provide help to pirates! Read the forum rules as you were told in the other thread!

I am not a pirate.....
Sorry, that should have read "pirated software" (which is what it is as it would have been licensed to the Uni and not you). That aside, to fix the machine you will need a legit XP CD. "Poor" is not an excuse as many of us are also "poor" but still manage to pay for our software. :upset:

Yes, you must follow the rules of this forum in order to recieve support. This includes owning your own license of a retail Windows XP that you purchased with your own money. This is not the only website that will require you to do this SUNDOGG.

Sundogg, this has nothing to do with you being poor, it has to do with what is right and correct to do in this situation. We can not break the forum rules like you are asking us to do. I am sure that Microsoft would be glad to help you if you have a legitimate copy. Here is what you said in your original thread:

I use a Mozilla browser and use a high speed ASDL line. My Windows XP is a copy so hard to get any support from Microsoft
Your windows XP is a copy (you said so - that makes it illegitimate and a violation of the law) as stated by you in your post.

I do have a suggestion on how this might be resolved and then we could help or assist you. High speed ASDL (which you mentioned you had) lines are rather expensive.

I suggest you unhook that (many on here can't afford that, but do have legitimate copies of Microsoft products) ASDL line and get something like NetZero (real reasonable) and then you can save the difference and purchase legitimate Microsoft products. I saw recently where NetZero offers an introductory 3 months service for $4.95 per month. After that, their prices are about half what AOL or other standard services offer. If you save that difference in price and buy legitimate products, then, we can help you.

Good luck with Microsoft, I don't think they will buy your "poor" story as an excuse to break the law, but you can at least try.

Well you guys, Thank you Jay, I think I may try, i may need some help with that I understand the rules of the forum.
I think I was jumped on and treated very unfairly with no questions asked.
I just downloaded an Windows valudation tool and an update from Mircosoft, I do have a valid "copy" of Windows XP.
I understand the concerns of legitimacy, but if that concern is so great, and I think it should be.
How does the people here at Tech Support know that everything and every person they deal with is up and up?
This is for the sake of discourse and thought. If the concern of legitimacy is so great then it should be applied for all. I do not why you guys thought I had a pirate copy of Windows XP, I guess it is because I said "I had an copy" which is true, it is a copy of Windows XP, a program with many copies, just individual licences.

I think Tech Support and it supporters should look at how they decide which person and what software is legit or not.

In my case I think their was a big mistake made, and no questions asked, just a decision based on What, I do not really know.

Sincere SUNDOGG
