I had the same problem with my mp3 player (can use it as removable drive) and it was because of a firmware error (my batteries ran out while transferring music and it shower me the same I/O error everytime) and I had to reinstall the firmware on it.
I/O error when using iPod as HDD
I have set my iPod to show up as a Hard drive when connecting to my computer so I can use it for additional backup.
When copying files across, some will copy across fine and others will give me "Cannot copy (file name): The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."
Can anyone help me with this?
