I/O error in XP install!!! Not a good start...

Thanks in advance for anyone taking the time out to read this; it is truly appreciated.

I'm installing XP on a new 400gb SATA; I've created a 100gb partition and tried to install xp within this designated segment of the disk. I get an "I/O" error of some propensity during format... Never had it before. Then the installer fails to copy iexplore.exe, muyimportante.exe, like 2 or 3 important drivers... The entire process is a charade... I've been up late, have lost all hope...

I've actually had problems with my last few installs on other HD's... My windows CD looks clean and shiny... something tells me that it is not as simple as replacing the CD.... I havent tried to format the HD properly using seatools... I basically have no idea what the hell I'm doing... Please let me know if you have any idea as to what the problem might be. Thanks!

Hi, I haven't loaded any SATA drivers... I think I need to format the disk properly before I try another reinstall... I figured that a failed install would affect the boot sector - thats what I thought the problem was on previous installs... Would it be worth trying to install without wiping the HD properly? (I don't even have a floppy or a cd burner that works!!! - I am living the technological high life right now)
