okay so what is the model number of the PC or motherboard? you probably need device drivers for your network adapters
you will need to go to the computer manufacturer, search for your specific computer and get your drivers from them.

I have a compaq presario sr2010nx

I went to their site yesterday but I couldnt find any drivers.
ive already downloaded everything their. some didnt even work
Please do this:
Open the Device Manager
Post ALL errors you may have (yellow!)
Right click on the error>Properties>Details Tab
Post the info you find under Device Instance ID

Do this for each error you have

Did you install the chipset driver from the link (under Original Drivers) that simpswr posted?

I just finished installing the chipset driver. All the errors in yellow are and what i found in the details id:

Network Controller-PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4320&SUBSYS_70001799&REV_03\4&DC268A3&0&4080

Other PCI Bridge Device-PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0269&SUBSYS_2A45103C&REV_A3\3&2411E6FE&0&A0

PCI Device-PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_026C&SUBSYS_2A45103C&REV_A2\3&2411E6FE&0&81

PCI Simple Communications Controller-PCI\VEN_14F1&DEV_2F20&SUBSYS_200C14F1&REV_00\4&DC268A3&0&5080

SM Bus Controller-PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0264&SUBSYS_2A45103C&REV_A3\3&2411E6FE&0&51

Video Controller (VGA Compatible)-PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0241&SUBSYS_2A45103C&REV_A2\3&2411E6FE&0&28

The error for SM Bus Controller would indicate the Chipset driver has not been installed. It has to be installed first.
ok i already downloaded and it worked. now sm bus controller works. anything else?
Now that the Chipset driver is loaded, the others should load ok.

Thanks I managed to get a local connection. Now I need to get a wireless one. I know I need a network adapter which I do know I have, but in device manager it doesnt seem to show up. Like I said two years ago I could connect to wireless just fine4 so I know its there.
You now have no devices with a yellow ! or reported as unknown?

That desktop likely did not come with onboard wireless . . you could open it and look at the adaptor to see what Brand and Model it is

I still see the audio and the network controller with a yellow mark. and i opened up my motherboard, saw my network adapter card, went to the site, downloaded the driver but when i run it, it goes on then goes off.
network controller with a yellow mark
is probably the wireless adaptor.

What Brand and Model is it? Are you using Windows Zero COnfiguration to manage the connection or the manufacturers program?

I have a Belkin Wireless G Network Card Driver v2 and for your second question i think it is the manufacturers program.
The WZC will usually work better than the manufacturers program . . try using that.

Go to Services and set Wireless Zero Configuration to auto and start the service. Then set the network adaptor to use Windows to manage the connectio0n

Tried everything their. After right clicking on Network Controller it says it was missing drivers and when I try to install it, it says I need an internet connection when I do not have one.
Don't you have a wired connection? . . Don't install the drivers by right clicking on the adaptro in Device Manager . . run the driver file you downloaded

When I tried to right click-Update Driver it couldnt find the neccessary files. And the file I downloaded goes on then turns off when I try to run the program
