I hope someone can help....I have a HP xe783 and am running Win. ME. Somehow my Com 2 port got changed to a Com 5 port and now my printer, camera and fax will not work. Someone told me it sounded like hackers had gotten into my puter. I've already done a system restore and it did no good. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.....CC

If it was set to Plug and Play Operating System in the bios this has been known to happen.

Did you install any hardware?

Thank you for the quick reply. let me start by telling you that I am a "no almost nothing" person when it comes to this thing. I can do as i'm told and learn from there though........ What exactly is plug and play? And how do I find if it's connected to it? I tryed to install software for a camera, but when it wouldn't work, that's when I looked at my Device Manager and found the Com 5.
