I need to upgrade my processor but dont know which one or how much to pay
I only use my pc for gaming so i need a good, cheap gaming processor for under $200
COULD ANYONE recommend a processor to me?

You may want to consider a Socket 754 motherboard and processor. You should be able to grab a decent combination for ~$200. Only problem is upgradability. 754 is pretty much a dead socket, but could be a gap til your next major upgrade. Its up to you. Any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks for the advice but i really dont want a new mobo,
i would just like to know if there is a good cheap upgrade from my AMD athlon 2600+ (1.9GHz) for my current mobo?

You already have a 1.9GHz Barton so you're already very close to the top end possible for your motherboard. Your motherboard may be able to support CPUs a little over 2GHz (I didn't check) but you would barely notice the difference. And since you've already got an X800XL there's no point in upgrading your video card. About the only thing which would help you would be getting 2GB of RAM but that would only speed up some recent hogs like BattleField 2 and wouldn't help most games.

There's one odd thing about your report:
Problem AGP is disabled. This may cause performance penalty.
Everest seems to think that your AGP port is disabled. If that's true then you will definitely have a performance choke point. What does SMARTGART say about your current AGP speed? If it says that AGP is off then you should try turning it on and settings the AGP speed to at least AGP 4X.

Thanks for your help,
But i anytime i try to bring the AGP up from 0x to either 4x or 8x it asks me to restart my computer, so i do, but when i go back into SMARTGART after the restart it has reseted back to 0x, Is there something im doing wrong or does my mobo not support AGP 4x or 8x

I just thought of something could it be my power supply,I only have a 350w
psu, could going up to 4x or 8x AGP with my x800 xl be too much for my psu??

i just got a new lga775 p4 630 with 2mb of l2 cache for less than $180 and it works great. Get a new mobo and overhaul your system

Your motherboard definitely supports AGP 4X and 8X. The symptoms you're seeing with SMARTGART usually means that you don't have your motherboard chipset drivers installed. Your motherboard has a VIA KM400 chipset. You should download and install the VIA Hyperion 4in1 drivers as explained on this page. Then reboot and use SMARTGART to increase the speed to AGP 4X or 8X again and see if it works.
