I accidentally opened an attachment from an email & I'm sure it was a virus. What happened was an email was automatically sent to some people in my address book that said was from ME, but it wasn't. Then my aunt sent me the email back & said "WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM." I didn't know what she was talking about & that's when I opened her email, unknowingly.
My BitDefender anti-virus turns itself off all the time. I hear this is a telltale sign of virus. My computer is also running slow, several blue screens, & it won't connect to my wi-fi network that I've been able to connect to before.

Thanks so very much in advance for your help!

Welcome to TSF :)

Download Combofix from this webpage: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

--------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Close any open browsers.

2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" .
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall

I'm sorry, please specify. Does the anti-virus give me an error message? If that is what you're referring to, no, it's windows security giving me a warning that my anti-virus is turned off. When I try to turn it back on, it does nothing but stays red (that it is still off).

Sometimes Anti-virus don't get recognized by by windows security center. Not sure why its not recognize bitdefender though. Not a problem, but i can remove the prompt if you would like.

Open notepad
Copy and paste the following into Notepad
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center]
"AntiVirusDisableNotify"=dword:00000000
Save it to your desktop as regfix.reg and save type has .reg and click ok.

Double-Click on regfix.reg and allow it to be merged into windows registry. Reboot your computer. Let me know if that message still appears.
