Hi, I have a few protection programs installed in my computer. I have NOD32, spyware terminator, AVG anti-spyware, and spybot. I think NOD32 overlaps antivirus with AVG. I kept realtime protection off for all but NOD32 antivirus. I was wondering if I need anything else besides a spyware. Which ones do I keep? Which ones might conflict? I want to conserve computer resources.

Also, I use firefox browser with Adblock plus plugin, I have a router that provides limited firewall. I also Peerguardian and Protowall installed which loads blacklists to block known bad IPs. I need both programs for different lists. On top of that, I have comodo firewall, which I feel like I dont need. DO I? I disabled the application monitor because I have never had an issue with trojans and viruses and because I'm conditioned to accept every warning box I so it does me to good to have the window up. With the application monitor gone, all I have left is the network monitor which is just duplicating the work done by the router.

Explain the options please. My goal is to just have the NOD32, a spyware checker, the IP filters, and the router firewall. Why have more?

Keep NOD32, Firefox, and Spybot Search & Destroy. Spyware Terminator used to be Rogue, but the company recently said they were leaving the adware business, However you might want to get rid of it; it's up to you.
If AVG AntiSpyware is the Free version, you can get rid of it.
As for keeping the real-time protection off, turn it on for Spybot (TeaTimer and SD Helper) and keep it on for NOD32. If you are looking for a good paid AntiSpyware, go with either Spy Sweeper or Spyware Doctor.

As for PeerGuardian and Protowall, choose one, if you need help here is a link to a site that will help you decide, they say Protowall is easier on the CPU.

Keeping the firewall is up to you. If you keep Comodo Firewall, turn on the application monitor.

Here are two addictional free AntiSpyware programs that will protect your PC:

Hi, sorry for the late response.

I have to use both protowall and peerguardian because I have separate lists, one for global IP blocking and the other one allows http.

As far as spyware I ended up with AVG anti-spyware paid version and NOD32. I also have CodeStuff Starter, a free program that monitors your startup settings, so I feel I'm reasonably safe. No firewall though, I decided to go with just the router firewall for now unless I can be convinced otherwise. Too many popups with firewalls I don't want to have to deal with.
