I have a GA-7VKMP motherboard and on it i have 768 mb of RAM.I noticed certain problems after i placed the new module (512 mb) together with my old one (256).Some programs won't work, bios sees the whole 768 mb but only if 512 mb module goes first and 256 mb second. If I change the order of
this the comp won't start. If I place only the 512 mb module it won't start either...It works fine with only 256 mb.Can somebody help me or give some kind of advice?

Hi and welcome to TSF!

This sounds like a classic bad module problem. Download this and run a test. it'll take a few hours because of the amount of RAM you're testing.

Will the new module work fine on its own?

The same thing...The computer won't start with only 512 mb of RAM.
Does it matter if one module is one-sided and the other is two-sided? I suspect that this could be the problem :4-thatsba

I've had pretty much 0 success with that as the RAM works differently. If they even have different voltages it will bork the system.
