I have tried everything I can think of. I've turned up the volume on everything, including the system. I've done the sound/volume troubleshooter which told me it couldn't help me, I tried messing with th drivers--nothing. I know that my speakers are plugged in and that they work because I can hear sound when I talk in the microphone, just not sounds from the computer. I am beyond frustrated.

I THINK it may have something to do with the fact that I deleted SoundBlaster Live 24-bit yesterday from my programs. I was trying to free up space on my computer and the sound was still working after I did that..but as soon as I rebooted the sound did not work and it hasn't worked since then no matter what I do.

Can someone PLEASE help me? I don't know what I did.

In Device Manager, are there any yellow exclamation points or question marks?

You can see Device Manager by Right clicking My Computer > Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager.

There was one on SoundBlaster yesterday after I removed it, and in my attempt to get my sound back I did something to make it go away (I don't remember what). But the exclamation is not there anymore. And needless to say, it didn't solve the problem.

Have you tried a System Restore? I believe XP automatically creates a restore point before you uninstall anything. So that should work, if you have System Restore turned on.

If System Restore doesn't work, you need to reinstall Sound Blaster. This is probably found on the resource CD that came with the PC.

For future reference, you need to be careful when uninstalling things in Add/Remove Programs. A simple google search should provide enough information to tell you whether or not you should uninstall it.
