I cannot get mass effect to install on any drive but C

I purchased mass effect on DVD for the PC. Autorun does NOT work on my computer because I have VMware tools installed and it disables it completely.

I have to look at the autorun.inf files and execute the code there. In this case it said "autorun.exe" with some parameter. I can't pass parameters, of course, to the executable.

I OK'd and accept menu, entered a product key, chose a language and all these directories started deflating.

I thought that I would get to a place where the game would ask me WHERE I wanted it installed. Nope. THIS IS THE ONLY GAME I HAVE EVER INSTALLED THAT GAVE NO OPTION FOR INSTALL LOCATION. IT FORCES ITSELF ON YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM DRIVE (THE C: DRIVE) WHICH I WILL NEVER ALLOW GAMES ON. I HAVE A 7 GRAND COMPUTER HERE, AND YOU BETTER BELIEVE I BACK UP THE OS VOLUME REGULARLY. GAMES AIN'T GOIN ON IT.

I AM ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED BY THIS BEHAVIOR.

THE ONLY WAY I WAS ABLE TO GET THE GAME TO INSTALL ON MY "D' DRIVE, OR DATA DRIVE WAS TO BUY IT AGAIN ON STEAM AND HAVE STEAM INSTALL IT ON THE CORRECT DRIVE.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE.

I AM WILLING TO SELL MY MASS EFFECT DVD FOR 10 DOLLARS. FULL GAME.

I AM NEVER BUYING GAMES ON DVD ANYMORE. I WILL ALWAYS USE STEAM OR OTHER DOWNLOAD SERVICES. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS TO FORCE YOU TO PUT A GAME ON YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM DRIVE.

AGAIN 10 DOLLARS FOR THE FULL GAME MASS EFFECT, JUST OPENED AND NEVER PLAYED. I WANT TO RECOUP WHAT I CAN.

IF YOU BUY IT AND GET IT TO INSTALL ON ANY OTHER DRIVE OTHER THAN "C", I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW HOW YOU DID IT.

You don't need to use caps, and you shouldn't post your email in a public forum, unless you like spam.

I don't know why you are having so much trouble with it but you can set the default install location in the registry.
Start -> Type regedit - Enter -> Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
On the right you should see 'ProgramFilesDir'. The default value should be 'C:\Program Files'.
Just change that to whatever you want, run the Mass Effect installer then change it back to 'C:\Program Files'.

But you should't need to do that anyway.
