Hi,

First, let me ask you did is write over the entire Windows OS on this disk, or did it create it seperate partitions and create a dual boot? This is the first and most important thing in my eyes, then we can figure out how help you best.

Cheers!

Is that all u needed?
Ugh ok so after hours of tinkering with diff disks and stuff I finally figured out that It had clear OS on it, however didn't have Linux really installed on it or if it did u couldn't access any of it anyways so I installed ubunta and now I can at least get to files on the computer....this OS is definitely different, and with a little help...maybe my friend could actually get used to working with it? My question is this, is this program actually compatible with everything a person would run on their computer for everyday stuff like billing, playing games and surfing the net?

well you would need to get your hands on a windows startup disk . Not an upgrade disk but a true startup disk .

then you would put that into the cd drive and then reboot and if your bios are properly configured it should boot from the disk . Then you just follow onscreen prompts to complete installation . Pm me if you need a disk .

Hi,

When you boot up your computer do you get a bootloader before ClearOS gets installed? Or does it just boot into ClearOS?

Before you install Windows you will want to find out if your friend wants you to try and get any of his information back or if they just wants a fresh install of windows?

Cheers!

you technically legally speaking can only put back on it the OS that came with it .
Well I technically don't know what OS it org came with because its a solteck board but the hard drive had to be replaced some time ago when he got it the hard drive was failed....and the hard drive doesn't have a sticker on it like mine does that says windows xp or windows Vista, so how would I know cause he doesn't seem to know. Now I have read some forums about this and most say to start out with 98 and reinstall...however I am scared that if I do this there won't be enough memory to upgrade? And if this is what i should do can someone give me details on installing and upgrading please....thanks for all ur help

Hi,

Again, since this isn't your pc then I recommend that you ask your friend what OS he wants on his pc. Then you just install that OS on to it, and all this guessing about how to do it or if you have enough memory will be done!

I apologies if I sound a little annoyed but you seem to be asking the same question and I am trying to give you the best recommendation that I can. If you find out what OS he wants and then you find that you need help with installing it than that is different. Start with step one then we can help you from there.

Cheers!
