That looks like a very interesting product Pseudo. I hadn't ever heard of it before Although I'm not quite sure the need for it on Unix/Linux box. You could just install a VNC server on the linux box and then ssh in and run an encrypted VNC session which is what this sounds like it is but in a more expensive package (can't beat free). I don't see a VPN as a problem since you're accessing remote resources as if they were local to begin with.
