I don't think simpleserver can handle anything like that. Give apache a try. It's not easy by any means, but once you have it set up correctly, it flies.

I use a server I got from www.analogx.com and I was wondering if anyone knows if it can handle htaccess
I heard that htaccess can ban spambots and unwanted spiders.
If my "SimpleServer:WWW" can't handle htaccess, can someone tell me an easy self hosted server that can handle htaccess?

Do you have any tips for me on getting it set up?
IF you want to get Apache, PHP, MySQL and all of those things setup fast and easy try XAMPP (http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html). IT has a version for just about any OS.
