I'm trying to help my sister with her printer, which won't print. I've check the USB cable and it appears to be secure at both ends. I've tried to check the Print cartriges but am not sure how I would tell if they have Ink , also she doesn't use the printer very often so is it possible that the cartridges have dried out. I personally have a Canon Pixma 5000, which is giving great service, and is much more communicative re. Ink levels etc. Is there a maintenance mode for this printer, and if so how do I access it. Also I have found reference to a extended self help report, but couldn't find any instructions on using it, could you be off assistance there. I have visited your site and found driver updates etc., but have been reluctant to install them without knowing what problem I'm trying to fix. When I say the Printer won't print, thats not exactly accurate It does a very poor job of color printing which leads me to thing there might be a problem with the ink cartridges, how do I check this out. any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Is there power on the printer? if so

Try plugging usb cord into different port...if no change

unplug printer from wall for about 1 min, plug in and retry.

Then my next step would be to reinstall drivers.
Thanks for your reply, I'll give that a try.

Again, thanks for your Post. There is power to the Printer, and I've tried rebooting while connected to another USB Drive, no luck. I'll try again after I install updated Drivers. I'll advise of any results
