HP ze4930us ram

I was shopping for memory for my HP 4930us PR299ua#aba and it says I can only put in 2x 512MB memory modules. But I also saw that a HP ze4930ea laptop can use 2x 1GB memory modules. My 2 questions are what is the difference between the us and ea models that allows the larger chips and if possible could I change my laptop to take the 1GB memory modules?

Only HP can answer why they do/do not offer the same models everywhere.
Have you tried Crucials's site? They have the best info for RAM compatibility concerning OEM units that I know of.
Crucial only lists ze4900 series, other memory sellers lists ze4900 and ze4930us separately. I just thought it would be nice to have more memory but I can live with 2x 512MB. Thank you.
All the info I can find also says 2X512MB per slot is max.
