Hp Psc 2110 all in one, destroying itself...

my scanner printer copyer has a problem, if i turn it on it tests the scanner, but the scanner bar gets stuck, and starts to smash itself into an invisible wall of sorts repeatedly, it seems very strange... im going to look around to see if anyone else has the problem but it prevents me from using the printer or scanner becuz it wont do anything else untill the scanner test is done...

This is part of the power on self test. If it can not complete this, the unit will not work. Is it giving an error message?

i opened it up, the problem is that the scanner bar doesnt recognize that its running into the wall, either the sensor is busted or something, but it just keeps running into the end of the scanner area untill i turn it off. i couldnt find a sensor and the only thing i can think of is just unplugging the power to the scanner, would that let me print?
