HP Photosmart C4580

I have just unpacked this printer after it has been sealed in its box for the last nine months. I have put it together according to HP instructions. Error message comes up straight away. "Print cartridge(s) missing or not detected" The tape has been removed of both, and no fingers or any thing else has touched those previously covered parts. Any help would be appreciated. HP want a copy of the receipt in order to help. Bad time "year end " to go looking for an old invoice.
