After about 20 minutes of operations I find my HP Pavilion dv9000 getting very warm and then eventually shutting down. Do you have any idea why?

Overheating perhaps. Check your temps with SpeedFan or NHC. Check vents/heatsink if they are being covered/obstructed by anything when laptop is in use. Also it is good to clean these areas using a can of compressed air.

warning, my hp 9000 died , and probably is the same thing. Go to the Hp page and re install the new version of Bios. It may help or solved your problem. but look at this site
