I have an hp pavilion dv1000 laptop. and for some rsn, from yesterday it started overheating WAAAY too much. normal temps are about 55c-60c. but yesterday the fans stopped spinning and the temps got to 90c!!! i tried opening it up, but it's harder than i thought LoL. so i'm just asking, has anyone else ever opened up an hp pavilion dv1000? if you have any advice or info that would be GREATYLY appreciated :pray: thanx.

SYSTEM SPECS(not that is matters)

intel celeron m 1.6GHz
512mb ddr infineon ram 333mhz
intel graphix media accelerator something. please anything will help!

You can get your service manual at this link, save a copy of it and print out the pages you need for taking it apart.

Only thing that can't be stressed enough is that if you take off any heatsinks, thermal paste MUST be reapplied. A cpu can fry very very quickly without it. I use Arctic Silver 5.

You don't necessarily have to take the heatsink off, though it isn't a bad idea. The vents are the big thing and they can get so clogged with dust that cleaning from the outside isn't very effective.

yea it's quite an old laptop, so i wanna clean it and reapply thermal paste, i've just never taken apart a laptop before. desktop pc's are much easier :p thnx for the info!
