hp laptop

My HP laptop slowly blacks out. It will be on for about 5 min. and then then the screen starts to slowly close in until completely dark grey. Please need some advice.:confused:

can you see anything if you shine a torch onto the screen

Well, it stopped acting up... at least for now. It will do this every oncein a while and the all of a sudden it will work properly.

next time it happens check it with a torch then if you see the sscreen dimly in the background the probem is the baclight inverter

In case that was the issue, will that repair be too costly or is it better to buy a new laptop?....
