Hello,

I need help? I have a HP G7, it won't power on. I have taken the laptop apart cleaned everything applied new thermal grease, but i still have no power. i have found that the power connector part number
641394-001 when i plug in the power i get no light on it. I have also tried two different power supplies with the same result. i used the multi-meter to test power supply and is is good. i plugged it in and checked the red wires on the 8 connector and i get a 19 something reading. can't find volt specs for the power connector to see if its bad. can any help? I would figure that with the power connector out of unit that i would at least get the light to come on with the power connect it the PW connector but nothing. any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you ,
Dan

Hello,

19V seem about right. Are you checking at the back of the DC Jack or where it connects to the motherboard?

About the only way to trace the components in order to test is to see if you can get the block diagram for that board (which will have the voltages listed)

Honestly, all that over sized bold words takes my will to provide any help. Please reply in proper format or i won't provide any further assistance.

First of all remove battery and check if issue persists, but...
By the situation described it appears you have a faulty board. First of all, thoroughly scan the board for busted/burned capacitors or other parts. If nothing is found, and you have electrical knowledge you can follow the board circuit with your multimeter, take it to a repair tech, or simply buy a new board.
