Im working on a HP G61 laptop. The person overheated it and ruined the processor. I put a new one in and redid the thermal paste with arctic silver and this still is still going crazy with the over heating. The fan is working i cleaned the dust out and everything. When i first turn it on its already above 50c. Now its just sitting here at 80c with a fresh install of windows and nothing running. I have redone the thermal paste multiple times and nothing seems to work. I am wondering if the motherboard is damaged in some way thats causing this to happen.

Any suggestions on what to do with this thing?

Sounds like and issue with the BIOS or the motherboard itself.

Yeah this bios is quite limited too you cant even monitor temps or control fan speed at all.

I updated the bios and its still overheating any ideas on what could be damaged on the board to cause this?

No idea. Do you see any thing wrong on the board?

Is the fan running at max speed all the time?

I don't see anything wrong with it the fan speeds up based on temperature.
