HP dv6000 is beeping

Hi, I'm having issues with my laptop, which is about 2 years old.

I have an HP and have had problems with it pretty much from the start. After about 6 months or so, I couldn't connect to the wireless internet that we have here at home. I knew it was my laptop because our desktop and other laptop connected just fine. I had to send it back once (while under warranty), and they replaced the motherboard. I received it, and it worked fine for a while.

Recently, the same wireless connection problem started happening again. Sometimes I could connect, and other times I couldn't. Yesterday went to turn on my laptop, and all I get 3 beeps...then nothing. The computer is on because the power light is on, but nothing happens after the beeps.

Of course, now I am out of warranty. Is this something that can be fixed? Or at least be able to have access to the stuff on my computer, such as pictures and iTunes, etc? This is a $1500 laptop and I hate for it be fried after 2 years.

If there are any recommendations, I'd love to hear them. Please speak in simple computer terms, because I don't know a whole lot about them.

Thanks so much!

Thanks.

I just got off the phone with HP and they will be fixing my laptop for free, even though I'm out of warranty because I guess this has been a big problem. They said it has to do with the motherboard.

Hopefully this takes care of it!
good let s know how you go with it

I will. I've been doing a lot of research on this in regards to the HP's and apparently the dv6000 and dv9000 are having MAJOR problems just like me. Unable to get online with wireless, and then beeps and goes dead.

It happens over and over, then HP sends you a new laptop and it happens AGAIN. These crappy things need to be recalled, refunded, class action suit...something. HP doesn't seem to care about it at all. I did find on their site something about a 2 year extended warranty for these problems...funny that it was never mentioned to me yesterday, BUT I could have paid $150 or something for it. I'll be demanding that free warranty, that's for sure.

Anyone out there that is considering an HP laptop...don't do it!!!
