HP/ Compaq G6000 laptop

hi i have a hp/compaq g6000 laptop which had virus on board. I deciede to do a system recovery using the recovery partion but found that this also had been corrupted by virus. I ordered the replacement dvd recovery disks from HP but can not boot on to the dvd/cd now. I have checked the bios settings and the cd/dvd drive is select to boot first but when you press f9 for boot options all you see is hard disk drive. I have done a bios reset by removing the on board battery but cant access the dvd drive. Also i have changed the dvd drive out for a direct replacement but with no luck. I am thinking this is now a motherboard issue, please could someone confirm.
Systen is running wndows vista home premium
