Hi,
This sounds very much like mine - still unresolved . Please read my ' 5552 won't print a file ' on next page down. HP have been most helpful - get onto their tech support - have you run their diagnostic tool. Also under Device Manager - USB 'tree', can you actually see the printer as well as the HP support file
Right click My computer - Properties - Hardware - Device Manager. With the printer ' ready ' click on the little + next to IDE ATA/ATAPI Cont. You should get IEEE 1284.4 Dot4 files dropped down. If not, this could be your problem
1. unplug all cables from the printer to pc, exception leave the power plug attached and printer off.
2. uninstall driver and software from add/remove in control panel, check device manager
to make sure it is not showing there either otherwise uninstall it here too.
3. reboot pc
4. turn on printer
5. install printer driver and software, connect the cable or cables when the installation tells you to
6. after installation completes, reboot pc
7. apply updates if any
8. reboot pc
