I have installed HP 2014 on Windows XP. This printer is shared and I can use it from 2 other computers. These computers are Windows Vista Ultimate (with Home Premium I had same problem). Everything is OK with printing, but when I try to change some of preferences I get application crash. This happens on both computers that uses shared printer every time I try to change preferences. I tried to change preferences from print dialog window (notepad, word...) and from control panel/printers and result is the same.

Here are windows event logs:

1. From control panel\printers
"Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x47918e5d, faulting module HP2014U.DLL, version 0.3.0.1, time stamp 0x4632e3a9, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0004aa2c, process id 0x1850, application start time 0x01c8fbb0d231765b."

2. From notepad print dialog
"Faulting application notepad.exe, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x47918ea2, faulting module HP2014U.DLL, version 0.3.0.1, time stamp 0x4632e3a9, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0004aa2c, process id 0x1f14, application start time 0x01c8fc4d1dbdf9d0."

Sounds to me like you need to update the printer driver. When you share a printer, you can define additional drivers that are installed for different OSes. I don't know if XP (the one you are sharing from) will have a selection for vista drivers.
The other solution would be to download the vista drivers from HP and install them onto the Vista machines, then just select that shared printer.
Hope it helps.

I tried your solution but still having the same problem. When I installed printer driver on my Vista machine, hp 2014 has been added to my printers. I can manage preferences on this new installed printer, but when I try to that for shared printer I get application crash.

I would contact HP technical support, it sounds like a driver issue. Unless you know how to use the windows debugging software, in order to see what is exactly causing the crash
