Hi guys,

I'm going nuts trying to share my downloads folder in Windows own DLNA server (Homegroup Media sharing/streaming). I can share libraries, but can't find a loophole to share Downloads on it.

I have some issues with third party apps like serviio (doesn't run most times), Plex, Samsung Link and others cause unnecessary heating and recourse consumption.

My best option is going through Windows, but it's an hassle to keep copying videos from downloads to videos back and forward.. Also, these actions take precious life out of my beloved and expensive Samsung 850 PRO SSD!:banghead:

Can anyone help on this?

TIA.

Create a Library for your Downloads.
Open Windows (File) Explorer and right click the Downloads folder and choose Include in Library/New Library. Now when you click on the Yellow Windows (File) Explorer icon in the taskbar, it will show Libraries and show Downloads. Now you should be able to share this Library in the Homegroup.

Never tough it would be so easy!! Thank You!

Unfortunately I'm still having issues, Downloads folder does not appear in my TV, probably because it's not showing in Homegroup settings..

Also another problem is I'm seeing "ghost files" in my TV, meaning files I deleted 2 weeks ago but they still show up in videos library.. Could this be some existing cache for server that needs to be flushed?

Thanks.

Highlight your Downloads folder in Windows Explorer on the left side and go to the Menu Bar and choose Share With.. choose Homegroup. It may take a few minutes and or a reboot.
I can't say about the cached files, other then your TV needs to rescan the Homegroup

Well, I had already done that, and I already rebooted 3 times, still not there..

I know this part goes way off topic from Windows support.. But in answer to you.. The question is how? I turn TV on and off several times a day and it still reads the same info..

Thanks again.

Go to Control Panel/Network and Sharing. Make sure in your Active Networks is set to Home or Work, and not Public. Go to Advanced sharing. Check settings.
Turn Off password protected sharing.
As for your TV scanning, what is the make and model # of your TV? In your manual or under the Help section of your TV menu, look for media sharing. There should be a setting for re-scanning media, or go to the manufacturers support web site look for the manual, or see if they have their own forum.
