Is there a recommended and documented procedure I should follow to "repair the wireless network connection" associated with the "limited or no connectivity" message provided by XP?

I had a disk crash on my Toshiba portable. This meant a new hard drive had to be installed. Now I am trying to re-establish my Internet connection via a Netgear router and a broadband service. The XP diagnostic on the portable fails on "renewing your IP address".

I suspect that there is an easy resolution, but I don't want to start monkeying around with the rest of my network, which works fine, so far.

Advice would be appreciated.

Problem resolved - the Portable needed the correct password for the router.

The only procedure followed, was NOT to change anything on the router setup, but to learn how to find the setup parameters for this device.

As soon as the portable is connected properly, a System Restore will give some recovery capability.

Also there should be a hard copy record of the router's password.

Quite straightforward, after all.
