Ok I have an nvidia geforce 7900 gtx and 1 gig of ram and a amd athlon 4400+ dual core fx x2 and I'm running windows xp SP2. How do I overclock these things safely, effectively and what are the advantages to overclocking?

If it works you get a tiny bit more speed. It's better to leave them at stock. It also preserves your warranties and extends the life of the components. Basically, if you don't know how to OC then don't try. It's too easy to damage the hardware when you don't know what you're doing.
