How to correctly port forward.

I did a lot of search on the internet, and i hit the wall. I want to forward a port 1122 on my Dlink dsl-2750e router, but when i check at Open Port Check Tool - Port Forwarding Port Check Tool , I got

I could not see your service on xxx.xxx.xx.xxx on port (1122).
Reason: Connection timed out.

This is what I have done so far.

Disabled firewall on laptop.
Disabled Malwarebytes.

Change the Remote IP in your forward to blank or any.

Tried that before, no luck.

Problem! I could not see your service on 210.186.52.134 on port (1122).
Reason: Connection timed out.

BTW, is it normal on the 5th hops at tracert result ?

What happens when you try and telnet locally?

I wouldn't worry about the tracert result, it is perfectly normal.

Ouh and my ip addresss is changed, dont know if that help, and Im also trying open different port, and still get the same result which is Connection timeout.

The IP only matters if it forms part of the forwarding rule.

Just to confirm, you telnet in then it drops the connection immediately or after a key stroke?

When I executed the telnet localhost 48762 in cmd, first came out this only in the cmd.

Im just trying to open port, just a computer science student here

, since my last time open port was 2 years ago on different type of router a d now when Im trying to open port it just wont open, btw this connection timeout caused of what reasons? ISP? Any?

Mario you will never be able to port forward. See those 10x ip addresses in the tracert? Those are private ip addresses not public. Your router has to have a public ip to be able to forward.

You need a different isp or you need the present one to give/sell you a public ip.

Private IP's are;
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255

If you have a private address, you can still port forward, you just need to approach things differently.

A VPN is probably the most well known way, but my preferred method would be an IPv6 address.
