While there are so many manufacturers are available in market, it is too confusing to choose a motherboard for everyday essential tasks. I have seen Intel motherboards have their reliabilities, still not a better choice because of non-availability of desired features and higher costs. While Asus and Gigabyte have been a big choice for long days because they come with more functionalities with latest features. I do prefer both reliability and more functionality rather than only reliability. What to choose if I would like to go for a motherboard today? Considering the present trends give your valuable comments.

Asus & Gigabyte are the better choices for reliability/support.
What will be the primary use of the PC?
What features do you need/want?

Those requirements are minimal so almost any Mobo should be fine.
Do you have any other specific components in mind (i.e. CPU-GPU-RAM)?

775 Mobo's that will accept DDR2 RAM are getting very scarce. Upgrading the RAM to DDR3 would give you more choices.
