Im looking to build a computer for a friend and for myself, these need to last a very long time, meaning 64bit.

i gotta keep prices low, so for processors i have these options.
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 1GHz FSB 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 E6 Processor

then a bunch of pentium 4 processors
Intel Pentium 4 506 Prescott 533MHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 EM64T Processor

Intel Intel Pentium 4 531 Prescott 800MHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 EM64T Processor

Intel Intel Pentium 4 630 Prescott 800MHz FSB 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 EM64T Processor

i have a 512 cache in both my pentium 3 and 4, and i think ill need more in the future, because something like cs source wants 512...
a 1mb or 2mb would be good, but the question is.
how do these intel processors match up?
the athalon 64 is supposedly the top of the list, and its just truly amazing.

so if anyone has purchased these can ya tell me how they compare.

Hi,

No question in my mind, the Athlon 64 is heads and shoulders above the other ones you have listed and at a better price. Oh, just so you don't misunderstand, I have both an Athlon 64 and a Pentium 4. Therefore, I am speaking from experience and not from a biased viewpoint.
