Here are my current specs:

CPU - 2.6Ghz Intel Celeron

RAM - 1gb PC3200 DDR

Motherboard - Not sure but it came with the PC and only has 2 RAM slots which can hold up to 1gb in total.

Here is what I am upgrading to:

CPU - http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/93109

RAM - I have two 512mb sticks & two 256mb sticks of DDR RAM so when I buy the motherboard (shown below) I'll have 1.5gb in total

Motherboard - http://www.redstore.com/fx/prc_gen.php?genre=PC&cat=MOT&subcat=mot&subcat2=lga775 (it is the ASROCK Mobo, 4th one down)

they look decent the pentium d 820 is a good cpu.that board has an agp video card slot,be sure you are useing an agp card.coming from a celeron to this cpu you will notice a big performance difference.if by some chance there isnt much of a difference the next thing to upgrade would be a video card, and is your power supply up to the task of running the new hardware. that would be the other point of concern

I agree with pharoah - coming from a Celeron, the Pentium D 2.8 will be a big step up. A couple of things to be aware of:

1. As pharoah said, you may need a bigger power supply, especially if you upgrade you video card.

2. If you use four RAM sticks, the motherboard may drop them all down to 333MHz. If this happens, you'll probably find you're better-off using just the two 512MB sticks at 400MHz.

Otherwise, enjoy your upgrade!
