The correct way would be too uninstall previous drivers from the control panel. Next boot into safe mode and run driver sweeper to remove whats left. Next boot back up regularly and install the new drivers.

Now if your updating drivers to a newer one then you just need to install the newer driver. Catalyst 9.1 to 10.0 would be an example.
