I am downloading ubuntu breezy badger as i post this
i then intend to burn it onto a cd

i have another CD with my windows XP office
files and documents and my outlook.pst file on it
i have a drivers windows downloaded onto another CD for my Taicom ISDN modem

What i propose to do is:

place the Ubuntu CD in the CD drive and switch on
presumably follow all the instructions and delete my complete hard drive in the process
install ubuntu

install my modem
(HOW? with only windows drivers?)

then import my office files
to WHAT?
Will an office lookalike be on the Breezy Badger 5.1?

then download Firefox and thunderbird
and import my outlook.pst file

I dont want to get stuck halfway without a modemand no internet access

thanks for any advice appreciate the help

Well seeing as you have only dialup, don't start. The ubuntu install downloads all of it's packages during the first boot. You need a broadband internet connection. There is a LiveDVD but I don't know if this includes the packages necessary for a stand alone install.
