I have recently bought an Asus notebook which was upgradable to standard Windows 8.1 (not Pro or Enterprise).

It does not have Bitlocker, nor does it have the default windows "device encryption feature"

Is it possible to get the default encryption without buying Pro or Enterprise?

Thanks JMPC

Followed your link and it had 2 options

A) Access your account details
Result: have no option (as shown in red) available to me (I log on to my notebook with a Microsoft account) "To sign in with a Microsoft account

1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)

2.Tap or click Accounts, and then tap or click Switch to a Microsoft account

B) Searched for "encryption" manually
Result: not found
